Spirit Of Truth And Believers

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him” (v.17a). Unsaved men do not recognise the Spirit or His work. If the world did not recognise the first Comforter, Jesus, you cannot expect it to recognise the second One, who is exactly like the first.
The Spirit is called “the Spirit of truth” (v. 17). He is both the essence of truth, because He is God, and the One who guides us in the truth. Apart from Him, men cannot know or understand truth. The only way a man can understand the things of God is to have the Spirit of God. The natural man cannot understand the Holy Spirit’s work.
Spiritual Union: But notice Jesus’ words: "but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (v.17b). The Holy Spirit would not just be present with them; He would indwell them, and the verb tense in the Greek indicates that it would be a permanent, uninterrupted residence.
Through every moment of our existence as Christians, we have the presence of the Holy Spirit within. According to Paul this confirms our position as God’s children. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Rom 8:14-16).
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him(1 John 2:27).
Lord, thank You for illumining my darkened mind through Your Spirit.
