Jesus Our Sure Way To The Father

4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
he Lord told the disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them. Then He said, “And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know” (v. 4). That appears to be a very assuring statement. The Lord seems to tell the eleven that they will surely go where He is going to be shortly. But then Thomas queried, “Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” (v. 5) This question suggests that some of the disciples, if not all, were still in a daze as to where the Lord was going.
Jesus’ response in verse 6 was profound. In other words, “All that matters is that you trust Me to fulfil everything that I have promised. Even in your death you must believe that I will come to take you home. You do not need to know how to get there. If you know Me by faith, you have Me as your way to My Father’s house.” It was a reaffirmation of all He had just promised them in verses 2 and 3.
When you are in an unfamiliar area and looking for a building, there is nothing better than to have a person who says, “Follow me; I’ll take you there.” That is what Jesus does. He does not show us the direction to the Father’s house, He takes us there. Whether we die, or whether He takes us in the rapture, we know we can trust Him to take us to the Father’s house.
Jesus calls us to trust Him. He is the way to the Father. He is the truth, so we can trust Him to keep His Word. He is the life, so we can trust Him never to forsake us in our graves, but to bring us to eternal life in His Father’s home. Christ is everything we need for now and eternity. We can trust His presence, His promises, and His person, for He is the way, the truth, and the life. There is no greater comfort in all the world than that.
(Read John 6:40.)
Lord Jesus, come quickly, take us to Your Father’s home.
